About

My language career began in 1990 as a graduate in Russian of the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California. I earned a B.A. in Scandinavian Languages and an M.A. in German from the University of Minnesota in the mid-1990s. In 1994-95, I received an IRSEP scholarship for one year of graduate study at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway.

Following two years of work in the Commercial Bank at U.S. Bank corporate headquarters in Minneapolis, I used my banking knowledge to start a career in August 2000 as a freelance financial translator. I have made my living solely from translation ever since.
